PROMISING Taylors Lake teenager Josh McClure has two size-17 problems stopping him from returning to the football field: his feet.
McClure, 18, has tried everything but cannot find footy boots big enough for his enormous feet.
"We've tried shops all around the place and even the internet," he said.
"We did a global search online and there is nothing."
The key position player said he wore his size-17 runners for Taylors Lake's opening two matches, but it was getting too slippery to continue wearing them.
"I fall over all the time when I wear these out on the field," he said.
During his first season last year, when he had size-16 feet, McClure borrowed a pair of size 15s from former team-mate John Dixon, but within a few games the boots had holes in the front.
Despite the problem, McClure went on to win the Lakers' under-17 best and fairest award.
His feet once again grew during the off-season, leaving McClure with no option but to consider retiring from his favourite sport.
"I was a size 15 two years ago, size 16 last year and now I'm a size 17," he said.
McClure's father Chris McClure said it would be a sad end to a promising start to football for his son.
"It's frustrating because he shows potential," Mr McClure said.
"He can't keep cramping his feet into smaller boots - he's going to get foot problems if he does that.
"I've tried talking him into golf, cricket and basketball, but he just loves footy."
Mr McClure urged anyone who could help with old or new boots to get in contact with him.
"If we can get boots that fit him, then Josh is back on the field," he said.
