THREE piglets were found impaled on poles in high-pedestrian areas in Ballarat yesterday morning.
A member of the public came across the first dead animal while walking around Victoria Park early yesterday.
Police say the pedestrian notified the City of Ballarat of a piglet that was gutted and impaled on a pole in Victoria Park.
Council attended the scene and removed it, before finding two more piglets around Lake Wendouree.
At this stage it is not thought they were alive when they were impaled.
The piglets were said to have dog bites on them.
It is believed they were placed on the poles overnight on Wednesday night or early yesterday morning.
Police are calling for any witnesses or anybody with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Unit on 5336 6080 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
