The team at The Bean Barn in Sturt Street recently took out the gold and championship medal for the best cappuccino roast at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.
The Bean Barn owner Richard Emery said he and his employees were thrilled with the result, which came a surprise.
“It’s magic, just magic,” Mr Emery said.
“You obviously hope that something like this will happen, but you never imagine it will.”
Taking gold for their mopoke blend coffee, The Bean Barn also received a bronze medal in the espresso class for their Burundi Gihere Lot One roast.
Featuring almost 20 different coffees from every corner of the world, The Bean Barn roasts all of them on site.
As for the secret to beating some of the biggest and best coffee makers in Australia, including the Italians?
“Attention to detail, passion and obsession,” Mr Emery said.
“But no sugar. A good coffee should not require sugar.”
