Last year’s fundraiser attracted 300 dogs, making Ballarat one of the largest regional sites, but even more are expected to flock to Victoria Park on May 19.
Ballarat RSPCA shelter supervisor Claire Cooper said all dogs of all shapes and sizes were welcome to come along for the 5km walk.
She said there would be activities on the day to appeal to all members of the family.
“There will be vets micro-chipping on the day, there will be live entertainment and there will be paw paint – where the dogs dip their feet in paint and create their own masterpiece as they walk,” she said.
“We’ll also have a dog photographer and the Ballarat Men’s Shed will be there supplying food.”
The Million Paws walk is held nationwide and is a major fundraiser for the RSPCA.
Some of our costs associated with the RSPCA’s work include $3 million for funding the Inspectorate, which rescues abused and neglected animals, almost $500,000 to fund vaccinations and almost $200,000 to fund the animal foster care program.
The Ballarat walk begins at Victoria Park at 10am on May 19.
