And yes, while this sporting tournament will feature the dance aerobic craze, it will also include plenty more colourful showdowns for students. Not to mention the traditional tabloid sports egg-and-spoon race.
Colour is the theme of this year’s Ballarat Specialist School tabloid sports carnival, each class assigned a bright colour to compete in on campus.
One week out from the mini-tournament, focus remains on participation but there are some pretty cool, colourful stickers up for grabs for those trying hard – a great way to brighten up.
University of Ballarat’s third year physical education teaching students have been working for about nine weeks to ensure this annual event runs smoothly with lots of fun.
Their program has involved finding sponsors, timetabling activities, posters and a theme.
The UB class’ management group spokesman Brad Petter said it was a great day for students to have fun in sport.
“Our students are really looking forward to it and can’t wait to see everything we’ve planned come into fruition on the day,” Petter said.
“We’re pumped and ready to go.”
Stationed activities include tunnel ball, a soccer goal kick, a soccer dribble relay, musical statutes and a giant parachute to run under.
Petter said it has been a big process to organise but always worthwhile to see students from junior to senior classes just having fun.
The UB tabloid sports will involve about 450 Ballarat Specialist School students.
