The third annual Creswick Civic Honour Roll dinner drew a crowd of 140, with many dressed in period costumes.
The dinner at the town hall is held each May to celebrate lives of former citizens who contributed to the establishment of Creswick, its social fabric, cultural development or welfare in a significant manner.
Honoured on Friday were missionary and midwife on the early goldfields Rebecca Wilkins, charity worker John Roycraft, Sunday school teacher Charles Pringle Howie and regular community board member Colin Wrigley.
Mr Howie’s grandson, Ian Howie Willis, said his grandfather spent 61 of his years in Creswick and when the opportunity came to nominate him for the honour roll, there was no hesitation. “This sort of thing is wonderful for a historical town like Creswick,” Dr Willis said.
