MANY no longer turn to parties or the TV to lift their spirits when they’re down, they turn to YouTube and the internet and type in the words ‘cute kitten’ or ‘funny pup’ in search of a funny picture or video.

We thought we could lift your spirits with some funny animals photos, so last week, The Courier called on readers to send a funny animal picture to win a family pass to the Werribee Open Range Zoo.
Reader Stephanie Wise sent in a picture of her nanna and pa’s horse Portia wearing a hat, which is this week’s winning photo.
The 15-year-old Mount Clear College student said that Portia was not actually a horse, but a miniature pony standing about eight hands tall.
And Stephanie said that wasn’t the only funny picture she had taken of her.
“There’s another photo where she’s standing next to another horse Tess, and Tess is wearing the hat and they’re both drinking and looking at each other in a funny way,” she said.
Stephanie’s grandparents live in Ballan, and she travels to visit them and their five miniature ponies once a fortnight.
“I just took the photo for the fun of it. It would have been about the end of last year.”
Stephanie said she loved animals and frequently took their pictures on her iPod, but they were mostly portraits as opposed to funny ones like this one.
NEXT WEEK: Send us your funny family photos. There is one person in every family who might pull a face in a photo, or somehow the whole family gets caught in funny situations. That’s exactly what we want to see.
WHAT TO DO: Using The Courier’s iPhone or Android app select the report button and submit your photo via the ‘Appy Hour: Funny family pics’ assignment. The two best photos will win the DVD of Packed to the Rafters season five, as well as having their photos published in next Friday’s paper.
