Fifteen Trees, a Ballarat company specialising in carbon offsetting, will plant a tree for every person who attends the Ballarat Green Drinks on World Environment Day.
To be held from 6pm at the Rebellion Brewery, the session brings like-minded people together for debate and discussion of green issues.
Event founder Micah Denmert said it was a chance for Ballarat residents to hear about local, national and global environmental issues, while enjoying a drink.
“It’s pretty much the only regular event in Ballarat where you can hear about heirloom vegetables, Cambodian charities, and ecosystem economics in the one room,” Mr Demmert said.
“What started as a small idea four months ago has grown into a highly anticipated event on the Ballarat social calender.”
Fifteen Trees founder Colleen Filippa, who is a regular at the event, said it was a fantastic venue for sharing ideas.
“The environment is important to all of us,” Ms Filippa said.
“The trees will be planted locally.
“Just by participating at the drinks, people will have a chance to have a lasting reminder of their commitment to the environment.”
Ballarat Green Drinks will be held on Wednesday, June 5, from 6pm at the Rebellion Brewery, 47 Mair St Ballarat.
