Ballarat will be seen like never before when hundreds of lenses capture the city from its best angles.
In celebration of United Way’s 30th year in Ballarat, the inaugural “Ballarat Through My Eyes” competition has been launched, and chief executive officer Geoff Sharp is expecting hundreds of entries from all kinds of talents.
“We wanted it for everyday people to send in their best photos of how they saw Ballarat,” Mr Sharp said.
“It’s celebrating how the people see their community. It’s them saying this is my community and this is the community I love.”
The top 24 entries as decided by the judging panel will be exhibited at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale which runs from August 17 to September 15.
Photographer of 30 years Peter Kervarec will sit as a judge for the competition alongside Aldona Kmiec, who runs a Ballarat photography business, and City of Ballarat councillor Belinda Coates.
“I’m looking for originality, creativity, simplicity and something that can be identified as Ballarat,” Mr Kervarec said.
Competition entrants can submit up to five images for judging.
