Salty shot to fame when he was given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on Tuesday by good samaritan Steve Hunter after being hit by a car on Doveton Street.
After coming to, the lucky dog was rushed to the vet where it was discovered he had sustained a fractured pelvis and some cuts to the face.
Eureka Veterinary Hospital surgical veterinarian Albert Lim said Salty felt much better the day after his incident and also had begun eating.
“The only thing is he’s quite weak on the backside. What we will do now is reduce as much movement as we can and let the bone heal itself,” he said.
Mr Hunter became a celebrity for a day yesterday after The Courier wrote the story about his amazing efforts to save Salty.
ABC Radio, 3AW and The Project were just some of the media outlets who interviewed Mr Hunter and Salty’s owner Jock Maule about the canine kiss of life.
