SEABL’s referee commissioner Tim Mills has upheld the referees’ final decision that denied Auslec Rush a chance at overtime against Sandringham at the Minerdome.
Quinn said the league had received an email from Rush yesterday morning to clarify protocol for referees leaving the court at the end of a game, before a protest could be lodged.
A controversial Sabres’ basket allowed on the buzzer snatched a two-point victory at the Minerdome.
The Sabres’ final shot, by Sam Woosnam, appeared to violate the shot clock less than a second before the buzzer sounded.
Rush players were left visibly shocked on court.
No official protest was made post-match. The Courier understands that to do so, Rush would have to call on the referee almost immediately.
Quinn said the SEABL referee commissioner had spoken with two referees within an hour of the game and was satisfied with the decision of the lead referee.
