St Kilda hall-of-famer and former Bungaree player Danny Frawley was also present, with the facilities’ new pavilion named in his honour.
Lyon, Brayshaw and Newman anchored the event as a panel in front of more than 300 attendants.
“It was a terrific night – it was as much about the community as much as it was about the football club,” Bungaree Recreation Reserve Committee secretary Paul Elliott said.
“It was about giving back to the people that have put $100,000 into this venue.”
The community facility has taken six years to complete, at a cost of $2.3 million, and consists of a 220-seat function room, sports pavilion and new home and away change rooms.
“This venue really puts us at the forefront of any club in the Central Highlands league, and is a great example of how to really set up a club heading forward,” Elliott said.
“It’s absolutely terrific for the club, to have the Moorabool Shire back us and approve the funding grant, and then to have the community so involved as well.”
Three of Frawley’s signed St Kilda, international rules and Big V guernseys will now rest in the new section of the facility.
