Craig Scott, 22, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty to more than 15 fresh charges, including possessing amphetamine, possessing a prohibited weapon, criminal damage, unlicensed driving and failing to answer bail.
Magistrate Kay Robertson said she had no option other than to re-sentence Scott, based on the breach of the community correction order.
“The most serious charge relates to the breach of the order, which was made when you were convicted of trafficking drugs in Horsham,” Ms Robertson said.
She jailed Scott for three months for the breach and added another two months for the more recent offences.
The court heard that Scott, the son of convicted drug trafficker Anthony Scott, was arrested on May 29 this year when a police search of his property found drugs and a weapon described by police as a “steel rod, with a steel chain, and steel ball with metal spikes attached”.
Scott’s defence lawyer David Tamanika said his client had a history of drug use and was “unfortunate” to be the son of a convicted drug trafficker.
“He is a young man who lacks some direction,” Mr Tamanika said.
Ms Robertson jailed Scott for five months, with two months to be served concurrently, giving him a total sentence of three months.
He was also fined $1000.
