MASKS, mystery and music will come together for a good cause next month.
The Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council is holding its annual fundraising dinner with the theme of masquerade.
“Last year we had the miners’ ball ... this year we decided on masquerade,” BRMC volunteer Georgina Vagg said.
“I think people feel that it’s exciting, just something different.
“I’m going in an old-world ball gown. It’s beautiful. I’ll have half a mask on. I’m getting one made with a stand, to hold in my hand.”
Ms Vagg said all money raised at the event would support the council’s work with local cultural groups.
“It brings people together,” she said. “I have met so many wonderful people in different cultural groups that I call my very close friends.
“I love spending a lot of time at BRMC doing my voluntary work. This is where I learn. I think we can all learn from each other, from different cultures.”
Tickets to the ball are $70, with a three-course meal, bottle of wine and fruit platter included.
Melbourne singer Rolando Limun will perform.
The ball is sponsored by the City of Ballarat, Victorian Multicultural Commission and Sovereign Hill.
