Thieves used a brick to smash this window at Allan Bros Jewellers overnight, making off with six watches with a combined value of $800.The brick used was still lying on the footpath amid shards of broken glass this morning.
For Allan Bros owner Bill Allan, this morning's phone call from the police about the last night's break-in was almost laughable.
That's because at 2am Saturday morning, thieves broke a pane of glass near the front door of the building, getting away with a range of coloured and diamond rings.
The value of those rings is still being calculated by Mr Allan and his staff, but he said it was "easily in the thousands".
"What's happening to this place - is this Chicago or a regional Victorian city called Ballarat."
"Lets just hope somebody saw something and can report it to police."
The weekend's burglaries at the family-run store come after a much larger break-in earlier this year.
More than $60,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from the Allan Brothers burglary on February 11 when thieves smashed through the glass entry door with a long metal pole.
Those offenders escaped across Sturt Street, dropping a number of items along the road as they left.
They were later caught by police, charged and sentenced for the crime.
Police are investigating the weekend's smash and grabs and have asked any witnesses to come forward.
