RSPCA Ballarat volunteer Dave Holmes has been making the lives of lost and abandoned animals better, one scratch and a belly rub at a time.
Mr Holmes joined the animal welfare organisation as a volunteer nine years ago and has become a familiar face around the Ballarat animal shelter.
He has four dogs of his own, all rescued from the streets, the oldest having just turned 18.
“Its gives you a feeling you’re doing something good for someone who is doing it a bit tough at the moment,” Mr Holmes said.
The RSPCA will open its new Pets Place facility in September and is calling for more volunteers like Mr Holmes. Pets Place will be the RSPCA’s one-stop shop for animal adoption, care and product advice in Ballarat.
