BALLARAT police are investigating two burglaries at hardware stores early yesterday morning.
Detective Senior Constable Alanna McDonald said thieves forced the glass doors and stole a number of power tools from Home Hardware in Gillies Street at midnight yesterday.
About 30 minutes later thieves cut through a wire fence at Deutscher Lawnmower in Creswick Road before reversing a car through the front of the shop to allow access through the doors. Several chainsaws and other power tools were stolen from the premise.
A fire-damaged car, believed to be connected to the two burglaries, was found shortly after at Invermay.
Police are urging anyone with any knowledge of the incident to contact Ballarat Police on 5336 6000 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
