RIGHT place, wrong time.
An Australian Electoral Commission notice advising of a change in the location of a Daylesford polling booth has printed the wrong date for the forthcoming federal election.
The notice, to inform voters the Daylesford Primary School polling booth had been relocated to St Michaels Primary School, identified the election date as September 14. The actual date of the federal election is September 7.
Ballarat electorate divisional returning officer Adrian Claridge admitted the incorrect date was an administrative error.
“All the letters were pre-prepared and September 14 was the original date that Julia Gillard called the election for when she was prime minister,” Mr Claridge explained.
“The main premise of those letters is to direct people to the new polling group. It is our hope people will focus on the relocation and be aware of all the media attention surrounding the current September 7 election date.”
