Some of the biggest names on the literary scene will descend on Ballarat's Museum of Australia Democracy at Eureka for the regional leg of the festival.
It's the first time in Melbourne Writers Festival history that live-streaming has occurred.
Award-winning international authors MJ Hyland and Junot Diaz will be in Ballarat, along with local and international literary luminaries.
Social commentator Jane Caro and activist Aiden Ricketts will join local authors, journalists and bloggers as they discuss the sometimes contentious, always entertaining topics of politics, power and democracy.
Ms Caro and Mr Ricketts will lead a panel conversation entitled "Destroying the Joint" - one of the fastest growing social media conversations about sexism and misogyny.
ABC social media expert Jarrod Watt artist and writer Amy Tsilemanis, blogger Erin McCuskey and author Elmo Keep are also on the line-up.
A series of writer workshops will be held, along with the opportunity for book signings and to meet the speakers.
Tickets range from $5 for a single event, to $60 for a weekend pass, which is valid for all MADE events over the weekend with the exception of workshops.
