HEPBURN has inflicted an early finals shock, downing minor premiers Buninyong this afternoon.
The Burras were simply too good for the previously undefeated Bombers in a qualifying final slog at Wallace, kicking clear in the last quarter to win by 16 points.
It was an arm-wrestle for much of the first three terms, with the lead changing hands on a few different occasions before the Burras booted three unanswered goals in the final stanza to prevail 9.5 (59) to 6.7 (43).
Hepburn players and supporters lifted the roof off the clubrooms with a rousing rendition of the club song following the triumph, which has booked a place in a preliminary final in two week's time.
Lee Cox kicked four goals in a strong display up forward for the Burras, Brendan Sutcliffe was good in the ruck, Daniel Rees great on a wing and Daniel Smith and Segifili Asa Leausa leading the way down back.
Buninyong must now prepare for a semi final showdown with Springbank after the Tigers collected a hard-fought two-goal win over Creswick at Dunnstown.
