A BALLARAT man is wanted by police following a car crash near Bendigo yesterday morning.
Police are searching for the man and an accomplice who fled the scene of the crash in White Hills.
The men were passengers in a car that smashed into the front of a house in Napier Street about 9.40am.
Senior Constable Dave Sanders said the Ballarat man, aged in his 30s, was known to police.
He said it was unclear why they ran away.
“It’s believed they were in an argument that led to the crash,” he said.
A 45-year-old woman, who was the driver of the car, has been interviewed by police and is expected to be charged.
No one was in the property at the time. A woman in her 70s lives alone at the unit but was not home yesterday.
The car knocked over a power box and careered into the front living room of the home.
Witnesses described a huge thud as the car knocked over two fences and smashed through the brick structure of the home.
“There was no screech of tyres or brakes. It just pulled off the road and made a huge bang,” Napier Street resident Chris Millard said.
“I thought the house was going to blow up,” he said.
CFA and SES crews have worked to repair the damage to the property as a crowd of neighbours and onlookers gathered at the scene.
Investigations are still going on into the cause of the crash.
