BUNINYONG has named key onballer Jarrod Morgan to make his comeback from injury tomorrow.
The Bombers’ assistant coach is back after a four-week absence owing to a grade two tear of his medial ligament, sustained in the round 14 win over Dunnstown.
Morgan’s return will be a big boost to the shell-shocked Buninyong side, which dropped its first match of the season against Hepburn in last Saturday’s qualifying final.
Senior coach Joe Gilbert said Morgan would play tomorrow and expected improvement from the group, which had a few passengers at the weekend.
“Whether there was complacency with a few players, I’m not sure. Definitely half of our team turned up with home and away intensity and didn’t turn up with finals intensity,” Gilbert said.
“Some of the players lifted that extra gear, but definitely not all. The onus is on the whole team.”
Josh Beardsell has also been named to return from injury, while Josh Renga is elevated from the reserves.
Meanwhile, Springbank coach Sam Giblett has recalled ruckman Matt Kane from an arm injury and young Bryson McDougall from the under-17.5s.
The pair didn’t play in the Tigers’ historic finals win over Creswick last weekend.
Giblett, who had a full squad of fit players to choose from, said his team was certainly capable of overturning an early-season 43-point defeat at the hands of the minor premiers.
PREDICTION: Buninyong to rebound, winning by a couple of goals.
