The University of Ballarat will hold a Blue Tie Ball to raise awareness for young people suffering from depression and anxiety.
The event invites the community to support the cause by attending the three-course dinner and charity auction.
University of Ballarat campus life coordinator Colin Marshall said this was the second year they’ve held the event, raising $4000 for beyondblue last year.
“We want to help to break down those barriers and stereotypes of young people battling anxiety and depression,” Mr Marshall said.
The auction already includes hotel stays, airfares and valuable memorabilia.
Around one quarter of young people aged between 16 and 24 will encounter a mental health condition and three million Australians suffer from anxiety or depression, according to beyondblue.
Former leader of the Australian Democrats, Natasha Stott Despoja will be the special guest at the event.
