MEADOW Gardens Retirement Village this week unveiled a new bridge named in honour of village managers Anne and David Poulton.
The Poultons have managed the retirement village for five years.
The modest couple were both shocked by the unveiling when they spoke to The Courier.
They admitted to being embarrassed and overwhelmed by the naming, but were honoured nonetheless.
The bridge has been a topic of discussion for some time, with it being on the original village construction plans but not coming to fruition until now.
Bob Stewart has been the driving force behind the construction and, after 10 years of waiting, couldn’t be happier.
The new bridge joins the surroundings of the Meadow Gardens overlooking Trout Lake, allowing residents to walk through the retirement village easier.
“Poulton Way” is the name residents have all agreed on for the foot bridge.
