This morning The Courier caught up with Labor MP and incumbent candidate Catherine King as she cast her vote at the Sebastopol RSL, Greens candidate Stephanie Hodgins-May at the Buninyong Primary School and Liberal candidate John Fitzgibbon at Forest Street Primary School.
Ms King said she had spent the morning campaigning across the electorate, from Darley at Bacchus Marsh and back to various polling places in Ballarat.
She said the lemon slice on offer at the Darley Primary School cake stall was particularly impressive.
Mr Fitzgibbon said he had been busy in the outskirts of the electorate, before making his way back into Ballarat.
He said the best sausage he had come across was at Ballan. Mr Fitzgibbon voted earlier in the week and said he would spend the entire day visiting as many booths as possible.
Ms Hodgins-May said voters had turned out in great spirits today and said the majority of them had given her high hopes.
"They've all said they're voting Green," she said.
Ms King holds the seat of Ballarat with a two-party preferred margin of 11.7 per cent.
The Courier will provide live coverage and video updates on the election tonight from 6.30pm.
