A MAN was arrested following a siege in Sebastopol today.
More than eight police officers swooped on the 33-year-old when he emerged from a Vale Street unit about 1.30pm.
Armed with a knife, the man had locked himself in a unit at the address after threatening to kill his mother earlier in the morning.
The mother - who did not want to be named - told The Courier her son didn't live in the unit and that she had come home this morning to find him threatening her.
She said she drove to the Ballarat police station to report the incident.
Police units blocked off the street and negotiated with the man for almost two hours before he came out.
Four police officers were seen wrestling the man to the ground, while one sprayed him with capsicum spray.
Police are yet to charge the man.
