BALLARAT’S generous nature has resulted in $200,000 being raised during this year’s 3BA Christmas in July Appeal.
The winter months for Ballarat’s most vulnerable residents were made that little bit easier with 52 pallets of food items, hundreds of blankets, shoes and clothing items donated to local welfare agencies and charities.
Appeal director Peter Caligari said the donations had helprf substantially reduce the hardship experienced by countless families in need.
“Without the appeal and the wonderful support which it received, winter would have been a very bleak and miserable time for these families, many of whom are in very desperate circumstances,” he said.
“Had the appeal not been successful our welfare agencies and charities would have been left with no alternative but to turn away battling families.”
Officially launched on June 4 this year, Ballarat agencies, including UnitingCare and The Salvation Army, all benefited from the appeal.
Mr Caligari thanked everyone who donated to the appeal and said its success would not have been possible without the assistance of outlets, including The Courier.
