POLICE have issued a fresh call for witnesses following an assault at Eureka Stadium on Saturday.
A 24-year-old Bacchus Marsh man was knocked unconscious while in the crowd by another spectator during the Central Highlands Football League grand final.
Police say the assault occurred during the game’s first quarter on Eureka Stadium’s south side wing.
A 20-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Ballarat Police Station for questioning.
He was not immediately charged and was later released pending summons.
Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham from Ballarat Criminal Investigation Unit has urged anyone who saw a fight between males during the first quarter of the grand final to contact him on 5336 6081.
