A GROUP of 27 Ballarat builders has won more than $472,000 after taking out the first division prize in Saturday’s TattsLotto.
The syndicate of co-workers at a commercial building company was set up 12 years ago, but the most they had previously won was a few hundred dollars.
When split 27 ways, the workmates will take home $17,497.95 each.
“When we won $300 once we were pretty happy, but this prize is quite a bit better than that,” said the syndicate leader who did not want to be named.
“The people in the syndicate range between 20 years old to 62, so they’ll all be spending the prize money different ways.
“Some of them will be thinking about going on a decent family holiday and others will be looking at retiring.”
The ticket was bought from Victoria Street News and Lotto in Ballarat East.
