Career firefighters from Ballarat City Fire Brigade were busy training a group of new volunteer firefighters in Ballarat last night.
Staff say it's important to make sure all volunteer members are trained to an appropriate level before the upcoming fire season.
Crews also responded to two alarms in separate locations around the city overnight.
They say the alarms were set off during cooking and have urged residents and businesses to take extra care in the kitchen.
The State Emergency Service mid-west duty officer said it was another quiet night for volunteers.
He said the relatively calm weather meant volunteers had a well earned rest.
