ONE family will have more to celebrate or mourn than most following Saturday’s BFL grand final.
The McCartin family infiltrated North Ballarat City football and netball club this year when mum Annie and daughters Louise, Stacey and Gina came to join the club where son Simon was playing senior football.
Both netball and football teams will clash with opposing Sunbury sides, which have been fair contenders for both teams. Annie will be coaching her three daughters in the A-grade grand final and said she was rapt with her team’s performance this year.
“To think we’ve made the grand final, without thinking we would, it’s really like a fairytale that you’ve been dreaming about,” Annie said.
This is the first year the three daughters have played under their mother in an A-grade netball grand final.
“This is just unbelievable and it has been a very enjoyable year for the family,” Annie said.
“We’ve always been a close-knit family and I guess its something we are all lucky enough to have.”
Simon has remained loyal to Ballarat North City in the footsteps of his father, a veteran of the club.
“It’s been a good year and we will have a great crowd behind us, so it would be great to win,” Simon said.
