BACCHUS Marsh scored its first netball victory in 17 years on Saturday, winning the Ballarat Football Netball League C-grade title in an amazing fightback over Redan.
Late in the third quarter the Cobras snatched the lead from the Lions, who had been dominating through the accurate goaling of captain Emily Hickey.
From there, they were never headed, winning 30 to 23.
Redan had been aiming for a C-grade three-peat but was outmanoeuvred by Bacchus Marsh, led by the attacking work of best on court, centre Lauren Prout.
A physical B-grade final saw East Point triumph 30 to 25 over Sunbury.
B-grade best and fairest winner Ebony Piera was targeted by the Lions, constantly being double teamed and facing defence so tough it warranted a stern umpire warning.
However, it didn’t faze goal attack Piera, named best on court for her exemplary shooting under pressure.
Ballarat had a narrow 22 to 20 win over Redan in the under 18.5 final, with Swans goal defence Maddi Quayle named best on court for her pressure all over the court and timely intercepts.
