FOOTY fans will be hoping for a close clash on grand final day, but the battle of guernsey sales this week has been fairly one-sided.
Phil Knowles from the AFL Store in Central Square said Fremantle merchandise had been selling at just a 10th of Hawthorn gear.
“They’re aren’t many Freo supporters in Ballarat, not when you’re talking about an interstate team with no connection to the town,” Mr Knowles said.
“But they’re starting to show their faces with the big day coming up.”
Mr Knowles said his biggest sellers had been scarves, bandanas and face paint.
“Those who want to spend a little bit more money will buy the guernseys and jumpers,” he said.
Mr Knowles said the most popular team in terms of sales over the finals period was the Geelong Cats.
The winning team’s premiership merchandise will be available at the AFL Store by 2pm on Sunday.
Mr Knowles said he would be backing Hawthorn on grand final day.
