POLICE are seeking the public's help in catching a runaway driver who smashed into a fence, then sped away last night.
Ballarat Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Shaun Martin said the hit-run happened in Humffray Street North at 7pm.
He said a home owner heard a loud crash, then came outside to find a blue Ford Falcon sedan speed away from the front of his property.
The car is described as a blue, late-model Ford Falcon sedan with dark tinted windows.
Leading Senior Constable Martin said the vehicle would also have some damage to the drivers' side door, because it lost control, spun around and hit the home's front fence facing the wrong direction on the road.
The car then sped away without leaving details or checking for any damage. The home's owner was able to provide the description of the car as well as a partial registration.
The fence was significantly damaged by the hit-run.
