BALLARAT’S finest junior cricketers have been given a week’s worth of high intensity specialist training to help kick start their development for the upcoming cricket season.
More than 40 under-16 and under-18 athletes from across seven Cricket Association districts have spent the past three days at St Patrick’s College under the tutelage of Cricket Victoria coaches as part of the Victorian Bushrangers Pathways program.
The program targets all aspects of the game by using video analysis to help the youngsters fine tune the technique they use for batting, pace bowling, spin bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping.
“It’s great to be able to get this level of coaching down to the Ballarat region,” Central Highlands Regional Cricket Manager Campbell Waring said.
“It’s not often that we can get video analysis of these young guys, but when we do get to use it you always notice a huge improvement in their technique.”
This week’s training session was the first instalment for the summer after the juniors were treated to several Cricket Victoria clinics during the winter.
