We’ve made it, we’ve made it!
Six measly wee sleeps to go and we’ll all be prancing our way around the town rockin’ our sweet yellow Run Ballarat tees.
I took a stroll around the 6km course the other day to check it out and see what’s in store for us.
The course starts at City Oval on Sturt Street and begins by running all the way down Sturt Street to Bridge Mall.
Yes! Downhill to start! It should be great to get our legs moving nice and quickly, ready to come back up again.
Ugh. Back up again.
I was feeling a bit of terror at the thought of running up Mair Street in the second half to be honest, but I have to say the hill isn’t actually as bad as I imagined.
The start is steep but it smooths out from Lydiard Street onwards. Once you get to the top, at Drummond Street, it’s not far to go at all.
I know most of us have been training really hard ... in my case, I’ve sometimes trained really hard ... so this week is the time to rest up and save your energy.
You may be tempted to squeeze in a few extra runs this week, but just remember at this point you can’t really improve your fitness too much more so it’s best to save your juice for the day.
Good luck! But most importantly, have fun and enjoy crossing the finish line.
See you out there!
