A notice of motion to rescind Ballarat City Council's decision to demolish the Civic Hall has been proposed by Councillor Belinda Coates.
Cr Coates' motion will go before the Wednesday, October 9 ordinary council meeting.
Until it is debated, no further action can be taken on the planned $2 million demolition of the Mair Street building.
The council voted 6 to 3 at last Wednesday night's meeting to knock down the hall, which has been shut for several years.
Cr Coates, Cr Samantha McIntosh and Cr Vicki Coltman voted against the motion while councillors John Burt, Amy Johnson, Joshua Morris, Peter Innes, Des Hudson and John Philips voted for it in a marathon six-and-a-half-hour meeting.
Almost 50 members of the public spoke at the meeting, which stretched beyond 1pm.
