CENTRAL Highlands pathway hopefuls have been given a helping hand from one of the state’s most promising female cricketers.
VicSpirit player Kirsty Lamb was in Ballarat yesterday to assist the Highlanders’ under-14 and under-16 girls squads officially kick off their training schedule.
Regional cricket manager Campbell Waring said it was great to have the 2012-13 Cricket Victoria Future Star Award winner on hand to assist coaching as well as be a role model for the girls.
“Our VicSpirit girls pathways program is gaining popularity with more girls participating than we have ever had before last season,” Waring said.
“We provide an emphasis on skill development and fun for the girls throughout the program. The girls gain wonderful friendships across the region, especially when the squads go away together in Melbourne for the VicSpirit State Championships in January.”
