BALLARAT City’s nine councillors could be set for another long night in the chamber.
Councillor Belinda Coates’ proposed notice of motion to rescind a plan to demolish the Civic Hall will be treated the same as other agenda items when it comes up at the October 9 ordinary meeting.
That means it will be debated in the same way as other items, including hearing public submissions.
At the September 25 council meeting, when the original proposal to demolish the hall came up, nearly 50 submissions were heard in a six-and-a-half-hour marathon session that finished at 1.30am.
Cr Vicki Coltman has already indicated she will second the motion to allow it to proceed.
Until the notice of motion is heard, no work can be done on the Civic Hall site.
