Police are urging motorists not to leave valuables in their vehicles after two cars were broken into early Wednesday morning in Wendouree West.
In both incidents the vehicles were parked in drive-ways and the assailants have smashed a window.
Ballarat Police Sergeant Maree Purdon said it was not safe to leave valuable items in cars, even when they were parked in the driveway.
“People should not leave personal valuables in their vehicles, especially in sight, that’s our main recommendation,” she said.
“If they see people hanging around at an unusual time of night, or walking around the street looking in vehicles, ring triple-0 straight away.”
Anyone with information about Wednesday morning's theft should contact Crimestoppers on 1800 33 000.
Fire units were called out to a false alarm when an alarm went off at Ballarat Health Services at 2am.
