A SERIES of exhibits and performances are helping shed light on the story of those in Ballarat who are less fortunate.
Organised by UnitingCare Ballarat, Under the Floorboards brings together the work of 12 different artists who have spent a month with the organisation.
The works are being displayed at the Art Gallery of Ballarat until October 20, while there will also be a play based on the experiences of those who stay at the Reid Guest House.
The art will tell the stories of UnitingCare’s work with the local Sudanese community, its BreezeWay Meals Program and Karrung Youth Foyer.
Ballarat photographer Aldona Kmiec has created giant mosaics of the staff and volunteers across the agency.
UnitingCare Ballarat executive director Cliff Barclay said the project was about telling the stories of those who needed the organisation’s services.
He said the artists were not told what to do or say and were just asked to represent their experience through art.
