FORTY-SEVEN people have registered to give public submissions on the Civic Hall tonight ahead of a notice of motion by Cr Belinda Coates calling for its demolition to be rescinded.
At the September 25 council meeting, when the original proposal to demolish the hall came up, nearly 50 submissions were heard in a marathon meeting that finished at 1.30am.
Councillors eventually voted 6-3 to knock the hall down.
Extra chairs will provided tonight again in the second floor reception area of the Ballarat Town Hall and a second room opened up behind the main chamber to accommodate the crowd.
The council will also be asked to receive a petition from 398 residents calling for the hall to be restored to its former glory and used for entertainment and community events.
A Save Ballarat Civic Hall Facebook site was calling on people to "bring your mum, your neighbour and your best friend's uncle".
As well as the 47 Civic Hall speakers, another four people have registered to give submissions on other items.
The Civic Hall is the first item on the agenda and will be the first one heard.
There are also another 20 items to be debated.
