A WOMAN has been taken to hospital this morning following a two car smash near Haddon.
Her vehicle and a ute collided at the intersection just after 8am.
She was taken to the Ballarat health Services Base Hospital, but will now be transferred to Melbourne to the severity of her injuries.
BHS spokesman Daniel Anderson said the woman was in a "serious" condition.
Sago Hill Road is busy at that time of the morning with staff and pupils making their way to Haddon Primary School, just a few kilometres from the crash site.
Police did not need to divert traffic, with both vehicles off to the side of the road.
Fire crews are also at the scene after calls reporting smoke coming from the woman's vehicle, which was overturned and appeared crushed in some sections.
Paramedics appeared to be taking extra care with the woman's back, by placing her on a spinal immobilizer before loading her into the ambulance.
The driver of the ute did not have any serious injuries.
