THE Dela Derby saw older sister and top team Assuntas defeat the newly-formed Vixens in Ballarat Netball Association's premier league competition last night.
Vixens fought back and outscored Assuntas in the final quarter, but still went down 59-46 in round 10 of The Athlete's Foot Cup.
Vixens goaler Hayley Fidler and Assuntas shooter Cindy Daniel were prolific goal-scorers for their respective teams.
Meanwhile, Sturt survived a thrilling final quarter surge from Eureka to win by one goal.
The 46-45 triumph was hard work after Sturt led by eight goals at the final change.
Nicole O'Brien dominated in her defensive play, turning the ball over constantly, while Stephanie Burns was strong and accurate. These two players were the catalyst for Eureka's gutsy effort.
Amanda Guthrie played a strong, consistent game for Sturt in defence, keeping her team in the game.
