A PURPLE Hope Ball will be held this Friday to launch Ballarat’s 2014 Relay For Life.
Ballarat Relay for Life committee chair manager Kylie Jones first completed Relay for Life three years ago with her mother, Viv Parsons.
“My father had died of prostate cancer that year – so that was our motivation and we got lots of the family involved,” Ms Parsons said.
Ms Jones said the family had been impacted by cancer for a long time, with her mother a cancer survivor, diagnosed in 2002.
“We’re passionate as we’ve all been so affected.”
Over the past 13 years, Relay For Life has raised $880,263 in Ballarat helping the 512 people diagnosed in the region each year.
“The Ballarat Relay for Life will be an inspirational, empowering and moving experience with family and friends,” Ms Jones said.
“It will also be an opportunity to raise money for Cancer Council Victoria’s life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and support services, which are available to Victorians in every region.”
