MAY’S Dream has been installed as second favourite for Wednesday’s group 1 $500,000 Thousand Guineas, 1600m, at Caulfield.
The daughter of Melbourne Cup runner-up She’s Archie is an $8 chance for Ballarat trainer Darren Weir with TAB.com.au
Boom Sydney three-year-old filly Guelph is the $1.40 favourite in the nine-strong field.
May’s Dream, which is prepared on the beach at Weir’s Warrnambool satellite stable, will again be ridden by Nick Hall.
He was in the saddle when she won over 1400m at Caulfield on September 29 to burst into Thousand Guineas calculations.
May’s Dream has had just the four starts two wins, including a maiden at Swan Hill, and two thirds.
Weir told springracingcarnival.com.au that he was “really pleased” with May’s Dream.
“She got through the run really well at Caulfield and then went to Ararat on Wednesday and had just a quiet 1000m trial...looked really well doing it.”
The Peter Snowden-trained Guelph has won six of 10 outings for $1.3m in stakes, with her victories including the group 1 Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes at Randwick in the autumn, and in her last start the group 1 Flight Stakes – also at Randwick.
