CFA crews and volunteers worked to keep a fire under control at Dereel yesterday.
Dereel CFA captain Darryn Hill said the fire had re-ignited from a fire last week in a pine plantation that had been cleared.
“It was under control but had extra resources to ensure it would remain under control,” Mr Hill said.
He said the fire expanded for about six hectares across one property with eight trucks and other vehicles attending.
Volunteers worked until after dark to keep it under control, until leaving it in the hands of the owner.
He said a combination of the wind and dry conditions caused the fire.
“We recommend everyone has sufficient water supplies and equipment if they’re going to conduct a burn-off, and register the burn-off,” Mr Hill said.
