PUISSANCE De Lune is without a rider for next weekend's group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) after Glen Boss was handed a 12-meeting suspension for careless riding this evening.
Boss pleaded guilty to the charge for his ride on Silent Achiever in the Caulfield Cup (2400m) and was then slapped with the ban, which sidelines him until November 1.
Ballarat trainer Darren Weir and owner Gerry Ryan will now have to decide on a replacement for Boss before next Saturday's race.
Boss has partnered Puissance De Lune since late in his last preparation, winning the listed Bendigo Cup (2400m), group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m) and the group 2 Lawrence Stakes (1400m) on his back.
The grey horse is a $7.50 chance for the Cox Plate and $9 for the Melbourne Cup (3200m) with the TAB.
