A CRUCIAL piece of Waubra’s premiership puzzle from 2011 will return next season.
Key forward Tony Mirabella has indicated he will re-join the Roos after a successful one-year stint with Hastings in the Nepean Football League.
While the Blues missed finals, Mirabella booted 52 majors in 16 matches last campaign, winning the club goal-kicking award while also being named in the league’s team of the season on a half-forward flank.
Next season will be his third with Waubra after first joining the club from Springbank in the premiership year of 2011.
Mirabella was an integral part of the team, playing a role alongside Lee Brown, before stepping up in Brown’s injury-plagued campaign the following year to be the Roos’ leading goal-kicker.
Charles Edmonston is the other significant inclusion confirmed by the Roos, joining the club after a couple of seasons with Lake Wendouree.
The big-bodied midfielder previously played for Learmonth in the CHFL.
Waubra president Chris Bourke said the pair were important signings for the club.
“Tony is a premiership player and it’s great to have him back, given his credentials, especially coming off a strong year,” Bourke said.
“Charlie is a Waubra local and has had some injuries which have limited his appearances (for the Lakers). He is fit now and looking forward to a big pre-season.”
Waubra will be led for a second year by coach Jason Allen, who took the senior team to a preliminary final in his first season at the helm.
