BALLARAT trainer Darren Weir will know this afternoon whether he needs to find a new jockey for Puissance De Lune to ride in Saturday’s Cox Plate (2040m).
Glen Boss’s appeal hearing into a 12-meeting suspension for his Caulfield Cup ride on Silent Achiever is set for 2pm today.
Boss will front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary board after being slapped with the ban for careless riding last Saturday.
As it stands, Boss will miss the Cox Plate as well as tomorrow’s Geelong Cup and the Manikato Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Jockeys Brad Rawiller, Luke Nolen and Ben Melham have already put their hands up to partner the $8 Cox Plate chance if Boss misses the ride.
Boss’s hearing will follow Caulfield Cup winning jockey Nick Hall’s appeal against a 10-meeting suspension for careless riding on Scarlet Billows in race one on Saturday. Hall latyer rode Fawkner to victory in the Cup.
